    default Black bear diner

I won't go to the one here in town anymore. I was happy to see it open - I've eaten at the one in Redding many times. The 2 times I went to the one here the service and food was well below par.

The last time, my wife ordered something (I forget) and it came out absolutely horrible! I think it was a sandwitch or burger, and she sent it back once and when it came back it was worse. In the meantime I was eating (slowly). She was eating her fries (the only thing edible) and whan the waitress came back she told her she wasn't going to pay for the burger, just eat the fries. The waitress tried to take her plate, saying of she wasn't going to pay for it, she wasn't going to eat ANY of it. It actually bacame a tug-of-war over the plate. A bit unprofessional on the waitresses part. We complained to the manager and he blew us off.

Ah well... there's other palces to eat in town! I think one's going up in Redmond, but I hears it's the same owner as the one here. Don't know if I'll try it or not.

I liked this place the couple of times that i have been there, but drifters story sounds, like a load of crap on the managements part...What has happened to the costomer always being right? Maybe the cost of things is really that tight, and forcing the restuarant to pay for the burger is too high a price? Its kind of hard to imagine that they would focus on the one burger, and not the ones bought down the road...or not!

The one in Madras I've never had problem with but the one in Bend is terrible. The last time we tried to eat there, my wife's breakfast was so cold the gravy had a skin on it. My pancakes got dropped on the floor and were never replaced. When I complained, the waitress was just downright rude.

Yikes, and ewwwww (skin on the gravy?). Sounds like a pretty lame place. If it is any consolation there are lots of crappy places to eat here in Corvallis, too.
